Stephane Ogier
With just 6.5 hectares of vineyards, M & S Ogier is one of the many small, family-owned wine producers which make most of theregion’s wines. It’s also one of the best. Wine guru Robert Parker describes M & S Ogier as “one of France’s most brilliant small artisanal wineries” and says its wines “just keep on getting better and better.” It was founded more than 30 years ago by Michel Ogier, whose family had been grape growers in the region for generations. Son Stéphane is the winemaker. Syrah and Viognier are the two grapes grown in Côte Rôtie, small amounts of Viognier often being blended with the Syrah for the floral notes. Ogier wines can probably best be described as medium bodied, finely textured and elegant.
A bold, exciting Viognier with complex fruit, a little nuttiness and a nice toasted oak background. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate gives it a score of 94.

Medium bodied with flavours of ripe pears, marzipan and butterscotch. It possesses great balance and a very long finish due to its refreshing acidity.
Mainly Grenache but also with small quantities of Syrah and Mourvèdre, this is medium bodied and offers lively, slightly spicy fruit flavours and a long, smooth finish.
A good, basic Northern Rhone Syrah for everyday drinking with food. Blackberry, pepper and spices.
An assertive, edgy, slightly spicy wine with relatively low alcohol (12.5), this will grow more subtle with time in the bottle. But I enjoy it as it is now.
Medium bodied with dramatic aromas of pineapple, apricot and citrus fruit. Wonderfully refreshing acidity.
