Senorio de Barahonda
This family-owned company, started in 1925, has evolved from bulk wine producer to a maker of fine wines, many of them award winners. Senorio de Barahonda is in the tiny denomination of Yecla in the extreme north of Murcia. Thanks to its altitude, scorching hot days in summer are followed by much cooler nights. This helps produce grapes that are fruity but not jammy and enables the winery to produce stunning wines from its Monastrell, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Senorio de Barahonda also has a visitor’s centre and fine restaurant and is worth visiting if you are in the area.
