Pinot Noir, Goldeneye, 2018, Anderson Valley, Duckhorn
Anderson Valley has earned acclaim as one of the world’s greatest regions for Pinot Noir. Reflecting the Anderson Valley unique marine influences, sites and soils, these grapes create sublime and sophisticated Pinot Noir. To further enhance natural depth and complexity, winemaker Michael Fay selects only a small percentage of the finest fruit for each vintage before applying small-lot, artisanal winemaking techniques.
A classic expression of Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, this wine begins with enticing aromas of bright cranberry, strawberry, blueberry and blackberry, as well as savory hints of black tea, dried herbs, pennyroyal and saddle leather. The lush fruit notes are echoed on the flavorful palate, where they mingle with layers of moist earth and wild mushrooms, with firm tannins and bright acidity carrying the wine to a poised and polished finish. This wine was aged in 100% French oak Burgundy-style barrels (228l) for 16 months.
